what kind of algae???

hi I’m new to the whole sw tank stuff and I’ve had this tank for about 5 months. about a month ago this guy showed up and has just been chilling on my rock ever since. what kind of algae is it? What does it mean? And how do I get rid of it if it’s bad?

Looks like green hair algae (GHA) to me. Once established, like bubble algae, it will be your nemesis.

That would be GHA (Green Hair Algea) you can hand remove or pull rock and remove with a tooth brush. Then let your clean up crew take care of the rest. Check your N03 and P04 and make sure they are not elevated or both are not at 0. Keeping nutrients in check with help keep algae in check as well!

I think BRS recommended a spray of hydrogen peroxide to knock it out. That assumes you can pull the rock out of the tank or drop the water level enough to get at it.

ok imma remove it then before it becomes my nemesis lol. i dont get how it popped up though since i always have my nitrites and nitrates at almost 0 im guessing its the phosphates now that i think about it...
