So I just bought this coral the lfs says when its fully open its the size of a dinner plate..he said its a brain but couldn't remember what kind but I liked it and bought it.. can anyone tell me what kind of brain please
Nope. More closely related to scolys. Care is roughly the same though. Moderate light and low/moderate flow. Feed with pellet foods or meaty chunks. They get REALLY big too. I have one that's a good 10 inches across when fully opened up.
I figured it wasn't a brain I have never seen one like that. They were doing a buy one get one half off so I got it for $50 and its about 7inches...thank you all for the feed back
-they were called Scolymia up until last year, then they changed the Scientific name to acanthophyllia
-showing that they are more closely related to acans (which are a type of brain in the mussa family)
