What kind of snail?

I know what's next to the snail. Not a great start for what was supposed to be a quarantine tank.

I'm curious if anyone knows what snail this is. It came in with an ipsf order. And, its shell changes color:

Cowrie

Looks like some type of cowrie. The shell isn't changing color; that's the snail's mantle tissues that sometimes extends up over the shell, and sometimes retracts. I don't what kind this is. Most people including myself find the money cowrie and gold ring cowrie to be reef safe, but other species are sometimes reported as opportunistic grazers on coral.

Agreed it's a cowrie. I think an egg cowrie, which will eat probably eat soft corals.

I had a tiger cowrie that absolutely loved munching on toadstool leathers. :mad:
