Are there certain species of torch that has shorter fat PE? Is it a cristata torch or just a regular torch that would get longer PE over time?Like what kinda info?
Awesome, thanks for the help! Excited to find out what it’ll look like down the roadIt's not a critata. But it all depends. I got torches with short and some with long but the one I got that kinda looks like urs doesn't have very long PE![]()
Maybe google some pic of 24k and see what most of them look like with the PE.
Thanks for the info! My tank has really strong flow due to it being primarily sos dominant but I have other torches in the tank and they are doing well. Another piece I’m excited to add to the collection and I appreciate your well written answer !Euphyllia Glabrescens, Looks like it could called an Indo Gold 24K, which are also sold under several namesakes by the vendor who is selling them. With torches there can be some variance with tentacle structure but much depends on the flow it is exposed to. Slower oscillating currents will help to stretch them out longer and stronger turbulent flow will often result in shorter tentacles within the same sub species. There are some short fat tentacle variants in the hobby but this does to appear to be one from any of the pictures you've shared. The shortening of tentacles is somewhat a means of protection. During rough and/or direct forceful current they will shorten. Stronger flow and especially direct forceful flow can push/pull the tissue away from the skeleton causing polyp bailout. This "harder" flow cause damage from the tissue pushing against the sharp corallites just below the tissue which can allow bacteria to enter the tissue through the abrasion(s) and cause infections which can quickly lead to death.
Maybe more/different info than you were looking but figured if you were looking to lengthen the tentacles or keep them shorter like they appear now know what to expect from the flow patterns would be helpful.
Yeah from what I’ve researched the Aussies have shorter PE and this fits the description. I just liked how it looked so I took itLooks more like an Australian 24K to me, but that's just my opinion! Very nice torch!
for some reason I can’t post vids but here is more pics if anyone could help confirmCould anyone help me identify if it is indeed an indo from the video or is it too early to tell? Either way I’m happy if it’s indo or Aussie
AgreedLooks more like an Australian 24K to me, but that's just my opinion! Very nice torch!
