Candy canes are usually branch and don't sit flat. If it's sitting flat lobo, scoly, acan are possibilities from the pic. Can you get a light over it and take a pic. It would help to show skeleton structure

A single candy cane with a structure that long doesn't happen. It will widen to branch but it will also be branched off the rock an inch or more. A Lobo is what this is and from the looks of it a very unhappy one. It has tissue necrosis. It should be puffed up quite a bit more but petco never has proper lighting and parameters so it makes sense. Dip it and place it low. Take pics in about 2 hours when it starts to recover
