Hi! This is my first time posting so apologies if I skip something! I have a 155gallon now front salt water tank, home to 12 fish ranging from Guinea puffer, wrass, tangs, Angels and triggers. I do not have any coral but there is live rock in the tank. I am looking to replace the 2qty. 36" lights that are on top of the tank. Any suggestions or recommendations on brands or models to buy (or to stay away from buying)? Thanks!

Have you heard of the Photon V2? 2 of the 32s would work well for an sps tank that size, since you have a FOWLR tank, one of our 50-V2 would cover that well in one shot for $674.99 shipped, and they have a much sleeker look than the standard black boxes. You can also tweak the color to your preference, each color (there are 6) can be individually controlled.

Thanks! I like this a lot!

Unless you plan to start adding corals you probably don't need anything as powerful as the SBReef or Reef Breeders units. You could get by with something like an Orbit Marine LED strip.

Lighting depends on you budget, if you are going to stick with fish only live rock the the Orbit Marine Led's when be a good choice. If you are going to go mixed reef for a 72" system that is going to be pricey. I would go with LED's for the reason you can get a light that runs cools, does more than what you need for half the costs and maintenance.

@x_burt 4999 kr for the monster

Thank you! I'd love to try but think The Niger trigger, pink tail and powder blue will all be too aggressive. Any advice?

The trigger would have to go for a mixed reef:)

this. +1
used 48" orbits are about $100. this style and spectrum will encourage coralline growth but not green algae growth. there are other types like this from other manufacturers as well. its also a set and forget. ramps up and down built in timer etc. has a small thin 1/4 in profile so it wont take away from the tanks "furniture" appeal.
the V1 reefbreeders is also a bit slimmer in design if you can find one(good luck I never did)

but its all about the budget. obviously you can stay t5 as well just pick a color combo appealing to the eye.

A Current USA pro unit would be sufficient and ample. It's also ideal because it comes with a featured filled controller

I think being busy this summer I'm realizing we are coming home early to adjust the lights, based on the fish tank schedule- so whatever the choice may be, I really need something that has remote control ability so that I can still stay away from the house and keep the fish on their schedule... (Friends will come and feed though)

I can add I originally purchased the SB Reef light for my tank but after having several issues with the light I returned it. I then bought the Photon V2. It is more expensive but is a much better built fixture. I love it.
