I have been debating what I should get for new leds. I am upgrading to a 150 gallon oceanic tank and want to go led. I want to be able to control it with a apex controller unless I do radions. I have been looking at all kinds of leds and cant decide. I plan on doing alot of sps and zoas at the bottom with some lps mainly chalice at the bottom. the tank is 24 deep I am pretty sure.

These are my thoughts on what I would have to get

Ai sols- 4 units over the tank-$1500 or so

Radion pro- 3 units $2000 wouldn't have to get the apex i could run something cheaper to do pumps and stuff so save 400

Ai vega- no idea on those probably 3 $1500

Looking for thoughts. I dont really want diy so that rules that out.

I am setting up a 120. What lights should I go with. LFS said two Vegas. My budget is $2500 for lights.

I have 2 vegas on on a 65....maybe could get away with 3..lately I have seen a lot of AI sols on ebay for under $350...

I recommend Radions. I've heard great things about them. You will plenty of flexibility with their color spectrum.

A close second is the Vegas. (Second only because of less color options)

I have tried Sols and I did not like them. Not a good spectrum at all. No yellow or red like you would get from T5s.

I would only go with Kessil if it were a small aquarium. 30 gallons or less. You will get a lot of shadows with a single point source LED. (Vs. many smaller LEDs spread out in a fixture.

Skip those overpriced lights and look into the Maxspect Razors. You'll be glad you did. They incorporate the 3W CREE led's, and are the sleekest fixture out there with full programming.

Yea I want the radions just have to see if I have enough cash in the end for it. I am trying to see what the second best would be I would think 3 vegas would be my second choice if I could.

I think I am going to go with 2 radions. It is a 5 foot tank so I think I can get by with 2 and if I need to down the road add another. Ecotech says 2x2 so if I hang a bit higher I think I can get the 2 to cover and still have sps mid way down the tank.
