This is my cabinet and the sump will be sitting on the bottom shelf so I need something that doesn't take up that much room. Any suggestions?

Probably making your own acrylic tank would bemost ideal for this size issue. Or if its just a sump not a fuge you can use a rubbermaid bin. I dont think any regular size tank with fit. Atleast with enough room for skimmer, heater and pumps. Id recommend a bigger cabinet tho imo. But im sure others will chime in with suggestions soon.

If your just asking about a light I use a energy efficient cfl and a clamp light. Nothin fancey here.

is the shelf something you want? Could always take it out if its an issue. Clamp light should fit pretty good tho.

Is there any possibiliy of removing the shelf and placing it up higher? Strips and timers wont need that much space.

Just drill a hole just big enough for the light to sit on. Or drill a hole big enough for a cord to go through and hang it from the top.

What kind of light are you looking to have, a fuge light or just one to light it so you can see under the cabinet. I just have a 24 inch uv light to see under it and a jbj led light for my cheato that is made for a biocube. It grows it great and is small, like 4"x1/2" and can stick straight to your tank. But the clamp lights work great also if you can figure out a way to clamp it under there

I have a clamp on light from Home Depot. It grows my chaeto really good and gives me enough light if I have to work.

+1 on the Home Depot clamp on drop light ($7) and a 75 watt LED bulb....a bit more expensive but virtually gives off no heat compared to cfl ($25)

Just be careful with those HD clamp lights. Where you have it in the Pict is solid and that's where I kept mine without issue, but I temp moved it to one of the center braces on my 125 basement sump while I was doing some maintenance and forgot to move it back. Sure enough it slipped off at some point and the CFL was compromised. It was leaching god knows what for approx 8 hours and managed to wipe out 40 of 43 SPS frags/colonies and a handful of LPS. Devastating.
