I have a sort of FOWLR tank as I have added GSP. Have been fighting Algea. Runs between 50-80 nitrate, (I have a running refugium, added a Algea scrubber, and started dosing homemade no-pox 7/6/2022.
Wondering two things.
1. What light spectrums if any will allow fish watching while not feeding the Algea?

2. can I go dark for 7 days with the GSP?

thanks.

Welcome.
If you can get an accurate phosphate read, that would be great info, phosphate (or too much of it) is the “food” for algae.
Limit food and light, then keep water chemistry stable.
Feel free to add a few snails to clean up what you have, just a few. Keep “redirecting” onto affected areas.
More is not better.

Have a lined dog face puffer. Can’t really keep any clean up crew. I’ll check phos, hoping dosing will help with that.

yes I know that my nutrients are high and bringing them down is my priority. Just trying to lessen the Algea impact while I reduce them. After an 80g water change nitrates 35 phosphates .9 Hanna checker for both.
