Hi, I’m pretty new to the reef tank business. I am in a dilemma of what light to get for my tank. I have an innovative marine nuvo 10 gallon tank. I plan on having multiple types of corals and 1 maybe 2 fish. I’m not really looking to break the bank, but I don’t want to cheap put either. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Kessil 160 is the safest bet. Proven good Light. Most flexibility do that tank.

Zetlight seems promising.
Older current orbit marine.

Hello,

I agree with @saltyfilmfolks on the lights he mentioned. I have extensive knowledge with the current orbit marine pros and later version the ic ones. I’d definitely stick with the orbit marine pros over the ic ones though. Another light to consider for the size of tank and money is the fluval marine 2.0 would do nice, just make sure you get it with the WiFi controller. With out that device you will probably hunt me down and throw the light at me.

The only concern I have is usually most people get super hooked into this hobby and go bigger. If you sense that is a potential problem, stick with the current orbit marine pro for sure, also the kessil for sure. They are the only two I know that can handle a larger tank. I know the fluval can also but it’s max is 125 gallons:).

Sincerely
Sarah

I can recommend an ai prime hd, i have 2 on my fusion 20 and have had great success.
I heard this light is good as well. I heard that it is kinda loud. Can you confirm or deny that? I have to sleep right next to the tank.

I'm not sure what types of corals you plan on keeping but I have a Zetlight ZA 1201 on my 10 gallon which has been growing GSP and zoas fine. I'm not sure how the light will do with LPS or SPS but I'm actually getting a few SPS next week so I guess I'll find out lol. For $60 it seems like a pretty good light and if I need to upgrade later on it isn't too much money lost.

Another vote for AI Prime / AI Prime HD. I have one on my 14 and am very pleased with it. It also comes with a built-in controller that you can access from your phone with a solid feature set. At $200, it's not too bad on the wallet either.

ai prime, kessil 160 all are good.
a80 will be bit weak for 10G. its only 15W, you want atleast 30w or better 50w , and not run 100% even when keeping sps.

I can't attest to the prime but I do run it's larger relative the Hydra 26HD and I don't hear an ounce of noise coming from them.
