I'm just curious due to some observations I've made lately w/ my zoo's. I have some AOG's that do not like being placed high in my tank. I slowly acclimated them to my lights and then slowly moved them up the water column. But once they got a little off the sandbed they started closing up and would not open until they were back on the sandbed (w/in a few minutes).

My tank is a 10gal. w/ a single 175w MH w/ a 14k Hamilton. The light is mounted in a PFO pendant and is a little less then 4" off the waters surface.

So, what are you guys and gals light schemes and tank sizes? Where are you zoo's in your tank (high, med, or low). TIA.

My zoo and paly tank is a 55 gallon species only tank. This tank has only been set up about 2 weeks now. It is plumbed into my main system. My lights are 4 54 watt T5's. I have about 8 zoo and paly frags in there. I had most of the zoos and palys in another 55 that sprung a leak on me.

I've got some AOG under 250W HQI 14K PHX and they seem to have faded a bit. I just moved them over so they are not directly under the light to see if the colors will come back.

Anyone else experience this?

Some are 3inches from the surface, others are near the sand bed. Good lights, but I do miss the pop of my MH fixture.

Im pretty Happy with it, I think I may be a little LOW on the wattage per gallon for my tank, It seems like some of my Zoas fade a little comming from MH, but some of them also seem to like it better than MH for some reason. LIke my Armagedons seem to have faded quite a bit, they are high in the tank tho so that may be it. On the other hand my Kiwi Tonics (on the sand bed) look better than they did when I got them, more of a neon sheen to them now.

I have however been seriously contemplating building a DIY version of a PFO Solaris LED fixture. I'm pretty good with electronics, and uC programming - SO its something Ive wanted to give a try for awile, If I do it I will post my progress on the forums.

I will say that I have seen some pictures of Zoas under LED lighting and they look realy realy good.
