What lighting does an anemone need?

10 gallon tank is pretty small. i wouldnt advise it.

IMO/E, a 10 gallon is too small for any of the hosting anemones. Especially one that has been set up for less than a month.

+1 on a 10g being too small and too new. An anemone will roam around until it finds a spot it like. a 10g doesn't give it enough room to find the right spot. Not saying it won't happen but chances are it'll get stressed out.

Okay I guess no anemone is their anything else that is as interesting anemone beside corals.

Anemones and corals are such close cousins, your question is very hard to answer as it is currently written. BESIDES corals? It's kind of like asking "is there anything as interesting as an ostrich besides birds?" LOL

If you're asking for something that looks similar to an anemone but is NOT a coral, I don't know how to help you. I can't think of any non-coral that is similar to an anemone. But if you're asking are there any corals that look similar to an anemone and would be appropriate for your tank, then yes there are dozens if not hundreds. Bubble coral looks very much like a bubble-tip anemone, for example.

One coral I find very interesting that is vaguely anemone-looking is called a Duncan. But there are literally hundreds of coral that look similar to an anemone. I don't know that a clown will host to any of them, however.

I agree with the others that feel 10 gallon tank too small.....the need very good flow, not sure how much you could get in a 10 gallon tank.

Frogspawn looks very similar to an anemone and is much easier to take care of. If you are on a budget i recommend this light...

You should be able to grow any lps and softies under this in your 10g tank. Please do not add a nem at this early stage of your tank. Please remove the royal gramma from your tank. Please ask any questions and realize we all want you to enjoy your saltwater so that you will be a lifelong hobbiest. Sometimes when youask for an opinion from sucha great community you may not like what you hear. But thats why we are here, to help each other keep from making mistakes and to learn and have fun.

I agree it's too soon.
I have a 10g IM FUSION. I keep a very nice small sherman rose that is very happy. I will probably have to relocate him in the future but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I've had it now for 3 months. I also know several reefers that also keep anemones in their 10 to 12 gallon nanos. Granted they are experienced reefers and I'm not new either. I have 2 black and white clownfish being hosted by it. It is be done.
For flow I have an rw4.

I have a full size reefbreeder light. It's about 13 inches above the tank. Tha others have a Kessel and AI prime.

i think people forgot the original question. unless you are experienced, the anomene is not meant for a small tank.
people experienced would not ask the question and be confident in doing so.

to the op:
i CAN keep a bta in a 10 gallon. the headache doing so is not worth it.

so yes you CAN. but you better know what you are doing and know every cue that bta gives you to tell you he isnt happy.

also... some species are easy going, others are not. it is like hitting the lottery. i got rid of a bta in my 265 gallon 7 ft long aquarium. i wont explain why... but you really need to be intume with that nem before you even attempt a 10 gal.
