Hi there, ive recently bought a large tank that measures 1870x610x750 which im setting up as a reef tank and im just wondering what is the best lighting to use and require a light that will penertrate the depth of 750mm, any suggestions welcome thanks.

This is a huge open end question, cuz everyone will have a different opinion.

T5 / MH / LEDS/ combo's..

Your best bet is to just do a lot of research, check out all the web sites, you tube vids, check out reviews on marine supply outlets online.

Most importantly check out your WALLET. That in it self will tell you what you can and can not afford.

Set a budget, then look at what quality of lights you can get for that budget.

Many things to consider on lights, par rating, heat, cost of bulb replacement, energy consumption, controll ability, size, placement, access on tank.

You can see what I mean.

We went with ACAN LED panels and LED strips. Cost $2200.00 in lighting only.

Others will chime in on there suggestions............

Thanks racin 2438, my budget is $1500 im thinking of LED lights hopefully I can get something. Thanks for the reply.

I run kessils and love them. The shimmer is unparalleled.

I'm having more success with the kessil's than i did with Vega's. Couldn't get SPS to survive under vega's but i am with kessil's

Sorry, I should add I run kessils and 4xT5s. I was getting marginal growth with the kessils alone, but great color. I added the t5s into the mix and things are starting to take off. It's only been a month so hard to really tell yet, but I went away for a week and came home to a lot of white budding tips on many of my sticks.
