My tank dimensions are 48x18x29 and i want to have some softies to start once my tank is up and running than go into more diffcult stuff such as stony corals, would 2 16hd lights be sufficient?

I think youll be limited on real estate if you want to do sps later on. Personally id look for an 8 bulb t5 fixture 48”. If youre set on LEDs probably 3 16hds

Here’s my tank and current light, the fixture is 48” long

Reefbreeders Photon are a great light at a decent price. Especially if you can find a used one.

You're going to get as many opinions as there are tanks. I'm running 2 Radion XR15 G6 over my 120 (48x24) and according to my par meter they're sufficient for a mixed reef. The benefit of doing this is I can add units later if needed.
