What makes a mushroom get the bounce bubbles? Check out this video and see what this guy had going on. I've read a few things about this, but thought this might be an interesting discussion. Thoughts?

99% positive its a defense mechanism.
Spectrum plays alot into it but not necessarily a one size fits all thing across the board. Have a thoery this is dependant on where and what depths they are collected from..
Both heavy whites as well as heavy blues will make specific species retatract cap and push the bubbles up top.
Don't think its necessarily a good thing either. Id personally rather look at a supremely healthy, fat, happily laid out Mushroom in all its glory as opposed to look at it retracted and struggling to push bubbles under my lamp.

I agree with spectrum. From my understanding it is intense blue lighting!

Agreed. Heavy blues will make the typical rhodactis bounce like the og and similar as well as my magic carpet and others.
Its exact opposite for my Yumas. Heavy whites does it for them:D

Reef Jesus! Love you man
May explain why so many folks have issues with them. Already highly susceptible to pathogens. Doesnt feel right having them stressed so hard and its exactly what it appears to be seeing them retracted and pushing bubbles.

Heavy blues, although mine definitely bounce more with the less light I give them. Another thing is I have come to believe is that the more it’s bouncing the healthier it is IMO. Absolutely no certainty with this, it’s just my observations so take it with a grain of salt. But if my shrooms are losing their bounce it’s definitely a bad sign. They are more healthy when bouncing like mad, and it looks like that’s the same for a lot of other peoples shrooms. Also, when fragging, if you cut a side with a large bounce I have always had it live or stay attached without my help, even if I didn’t get the mouth of the shroom. The sides that detach or take a long time to heal almost always don’t have bounces, even if they got full mouth.

I have a regular green mushroom made a large bubble on it. And its exposed to alot of light ill take a picture of it when I get home

Heavy actinic lighting is what I hear does it. The concept seems absurd to me. You take a 10$ blue rhodactis mushroom, put it under blue light, and in 6 months you have a 500$ Rare Super Ultra Fancy Psychedelic Bounce Elitist Shroom? I think that they are very interesting and would love to have some, but it's just strange how people treat them like one of a kind rarities when they are just the result of blue light and time.

Dang. You have a lot of mushroom questions.
Idk about you but its getting me all amped up:D

I have found out what makes them lose their bubbles lol, I had very minor Dino outbreaker in my mushroom tank a while back and every single OG mushroom bubble shrunk to nearly nothing. Still trying to get them back to their former glory 5

Went digging in the crates for this one.
Here's prime example what I was trying to explain.
Heres my magic carpet under heavy blues. Notice cap retracted and pushing heavy vesicles up top to shield her from the lamp.

Here she is under 50/50 whites to blue ratio. I prefer the happy beast mode look:D
