What makes a BTA's tentacles take a bubble shape?
Is it flow, food, light, ... ?
My BTA used to but now extends its tentacles as long as it can...

Sorry if this question was asked already, I did not find a thread for that specific issue.

It’s a mystery. You can have 2 side by side and one will be bubbles and one will be stringy. My LFS has a whole tank full of bubble tips and it’s about 50/50

Youre probably wondering about their inflation. Easy to say Happy anemone. As they rely on photosythesis, it is the amount of light that dictate the bulb like inflation. Also known is that smaller BTS display bulbs moreso. Also realize that some of these anemones have prominent bulbous tips, whereas others lack that. In sIn many BTAs', the bulbous tips appear and disappear intermittently.
Water parameters also play a role and temperature must be maintained between 77 to 80 and also make sure that the pH is between 8.2 to 8.3, and specific gravity is 1.024 to 1.025.
Intermittent water flow in the tank is their favorite which requires 2 power heads to create medium, indirect current. NOTE: Make sure to cover the intake of power heads, to avoid the anemone from getting sucked up as they tand to aim for powerhead flow.

I recently added a radion x15 g5 so the nem gets at least 240 PAR ... and it does not bubble more.
My LFS's theory is that a well fed nem will bubble to photosynthesise whereas a hungry one will extend it tentacles to grab food... priorities.
I have to admit I stopped feeding it as it started to split. I'll try feed it more to see.
