Many coral listing under the Marketplace are listed as "high end". I'm curious what authority designates a coral species' value as 'high end' vs any other rating of a common species?

Or is it simply a seller's marketing ploy? i.e. "I think it's special... therefore, it is"

Seems very subjective.

Well, you could get a yellow tang for $19.99 all day, they were nothing to want, now you have no importing from Hawaii and the yellow tangs are hundreds of dollars...

What makes gold so much more than a rock, avaliable resource. And cost of producing it and or successful obtaining it...

Of course it is subjective. Usually price, but they can also be harder to keep. Rarity also factors in. Harder to keep corals are typically higher priced since they are not as easy to propagate.
