what makes a good calcium reactor?

Uniseals will harden over time. Take the leaky uniseal out on put it in boiling water for 30 seconds. That should soften it up and make it pliable to seal correctly again... or just buy anew uniseal. These fixes are a lot cheaper than tossing the whole unit away and getting a new one.

I would call geo. Not sure where the uni seal is. There is a gasket at the top of mine. Is that what you are refferring too? It should be easily replaced. If the structure of the unit has been comprimised by regular use. Im sure geo will address it as long as it was not dropped or beat up. I have had mine over 10 years no issues.

Uniseals are the rubber plugs that fill the large hole in the reactor body and the plumbing slides through.
I good calcium reactor is one that doesnt leak..

Unforunately, my Vertex $500 reactor I had leaked from day one. After using it for a year, I switched to the GEO calcium reactor.. is quie a simple reactor and has worked well for 2.5 years... and unfortunately, today it just started leaking at the uniseal...

sucks!!! I'm putting silicon around the uniseal, hope it fixes it or thats another $350 down the drain.

You’ll be good. My Geo leaked there, but it’s got about 12 feet of head pressure on it because I have it in my basement. I dried it out, put silicone on the mating surfaces, slid the uniseals back in and laid a bead of silicone on the inside. After curing for a few days, I hooked it back up and there's not even salt creep after maybe 4 months.

Wow. I did not know that they used uniseals. They always seem to leak sooner or later. I would have new ones on hand and replace them every few years. They get hard over time.

Thanks guys. I boiled the uniseal last night and had silicon adhesive in my tool kit, so I put that all around the uniseal. I let it sit overnight and it appears to have sealed pretty well. I'm going to let it cure until tonight.

I ordered a few uniseals for next time!

Should be an easy change when you replace the media.

I HATE uniseals, but sometimes you gotta live with them... I cannot imagine that anybody loves them.
