Hi

I need some help with my QT. If we don't use LR (absorbs copper) to help filter the water, apart from a sponge filter do u use anything else?
I was thinking of media rocks or will this absorb the meds? currently I can't get my nitrite down even though its been running about 14 weeks, I used the water from my dt which is 2years established, and nitrite is 0.
I had 2 fish, Yellow tail damsel, firefish that were beat up and starving, so I had to move them in earlier than planned in a 6.5g qt. I have a sponge filter, pipe and a small pot of substrate (wrasse was in before). I've put in quick start, the ammonia is 0, but the nitrite is 0.25-0.5.. I'm just wondering if the sponge filter is enough?

I personally don't worry about nitrite, nitrates, or phosphates in a fish only QT tank. I just worry about ammonia, if its at 0 then you are fine IMO. I only use a HOB filter with standard or carbon filters depending of whether or not I am trying to remove copper and sponge air fliters seeded with BioSpera.
