What medicine for beat up tang?

My poor tang got the crap beat out of him by another tang. I have moved him to a hospital tank. Is there any hope for him? What med would be best right now? I have kanaflex, general cure, erythromycin, metroplex, and pimafix on hand. He’s not eating.

Wow, what was the other tang? That is gnarly. Never seen a fish get that torn apart. IMO doesn’t look promising but will ring the #fishmedic to weigh in.

Holy crap. I'd think some broad spectrum antibiotic like kanaplex and maybe something like stress guard might be helpful (supposedly stressguard is supposed to help with wounds but I am not sure how).

Another yellow. I have 3 in a 310 as well as a bunch of other tangs and large angels. No other aggression other than this. All 3 yellows were introduced at the same time and have been together for a year now.

Looks quite bad. Definitely have an antibiotic handy if/when it gets infected. Best you can do is wait and see.

The fact that they were together previously and introduced at the same time to show such brutal aggression is unusual. At this point I’d look to prevent infection so kanaplex or erythomicin and try to get him eating. But the prognosis doesn’t look good. GL.

Oh My goodness. This is worse than battered. Of all treatments, I believe acriflavine will be best as it is an antiseptic that is useful for offering first aid to a fish has a bacterial infection or to treat a severe open wound. The best form of acriflavine would be Ruby Rally Pro starting with a 90 minute bath and then treatment ion a clean and sterile quarantine tank. Ruby contains aminoacridine which is another type of antiseptic containing a small amount of formalin.
Water will turn orange which is normal. Because the fish will be in container for 90 min , add aeration during the bath.
Kanaplex wont do much on this as it is not a bacterial issue. Fish if it makes it will have gross deformity once healed

I’m running H2O2 in my display for disease management. I wonder if it burned him and that’s why is all red. I’m hoping now that he’s out of the H2O2 that it will get less angry looking.

The red looks like open flesh rather than a peroxide burn. Looks like the other fish literally filleted him. Stunning.

Not sure why cancer was mentioned...I have no idea if yellow tangs would be attracted to the open wounds of an injured fish. Maybe, but they are such herbivores. This really isn't their normal mode of feeding.

OP: do you know if this was inflicted by mouth or by the caudal spine?
