Every method will work. What you want to do is decide what you want to keep and learn the advantages of each method. I have used every method out there and can not wait to try another method. I have always learned something new from each method of reef keeping that I add to the things I do too my own tank. An might help someone else in my club with a problem they are having. What do you want to keep and how much time do you have to take care of your tank is important to know. An will inform you in which method you want to use. For me I have found that I like to keep everything as close to nature as possible so I don't use GFO or Bio pellets or Carbon dosing and rely on getting a balance of input of food and output of waste using protein skimming and algae scrubbers to keep the tank clean. On my current tank I am using the Balling method for Calcium and Alkalinity maintenance as it gives me a more balanced chemistry in my water that I have found works for my corals. I use KZ additives very sparingly because they are so powerful that a drop a week does wonders. Each of these steps came from the various methods I have tried over the many years I have kept Reef Aquariums. My love is SPS so that informs my choices as to how I keep my Reef tank. As I said everything will work you just have to learn over time what will work for you and your Reef tank.
