what might this be?

Me again lol I have got something On top of my water that looks like clear gel and I have no clue what it is. It was also in the sump and around the drains. Is this okay or is it something that I need to be concerned about? Also there is some starfish in my tank now from the live rock and they seem to be doing good. Thanks for any help

Wish I could help. Can you give a better description? I've seen that happen when a large anenome dies? Is it an oily film? Is it sticky and sticking to the tank at the top of the water?

Sounds like it could be a bacterial bloom. How old is this tank? Clear, snotty slick stuff?

It looks like frog eggs without the little black egg spot.it did not have no smell and it was only on the side of the track and on the drain. There is no fish in the tank just live rock and dry rock the liveb is one 11lb rock.

Yes it looks like clear snot with a little white in some of it , the tank has just been up for 10 days

Since the tank is new I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most likely it will clear up on its own. The last tank I setup did the whole clear snot bacterial bloom thing. It went away as the tank moved through the cycle. I had it BAD, snot everywhere. It was colorless and odorless, which pretty much eliminates cyano or dinos (both have color as a general rule). Then one day, it decided to leave. Three days later, no sign of it. And never showed up again.

Thanks for all the help it looks to be leaving our at least not coming back for now. You guys are great. Going to put me a clown in tomorrow I hope
