I have a Reefer 250 3" tank with a MP40 on each end that are both linked to a reeflink. I'm trying to find some setting suggestions for a sps(frags) dominate tank. I started with reef crest during the day and lagoon at night with one side always set to antisync. I didnt really feel like I was getting good motion throughout the tank and yesterday switched to the nutrient transport which will randomly produce some pretty killer standing waves. Anyway I just wanted to hear what some other people decided on.

I use 1 mp40 and 1 mo10 on one side of my 120 gal tank and gyre 350 on the other side, on my mp pumps I run then at 80 percent reef crest from 6 am to 9 pm, then at 40 percent constant the rest of the time to allow my sps to catch food.

I have a RedSea 250 as well with an mp40 on each end. Much like you I was questioning what settings to use. I run an Apex controller and just added a WXM module to control the powerheads. I'll post pictures of the day's schedule for my right mp40. I have them running in a sort of pseudo anti-sync during the daytime and alternate high intensity periods as you'll see on the graph screenshot. The orange line is my right powerhead and the blue is the left. Over the night I have the pumps ease down bottoming out at 20% for just a 2 hr period. I may tweak that up a bit though. Mostly a mixed reef for me but did get my first stick about a month ago which seems to be doing well.

Wow thats a serious schedule. I was already wanting a WXM but seeing that I feel like its a necessity.

Following. Curious as well!

i just purchased a WXM and been fiddling with it yesterday...clueless as to what settings are needed for 60g cube and 2 mp40s on adjoining sides

those of you who have red sea reefer 250, do you have them mount them on the back wall or side wall? I have two MP40 and both of them are mounted on the back wall. If you do have them on the back wall, can you share your setting and your experience?

Thanks

I was actually wondering about this also. I have seen quite a few pictures with them on the back and was wondering what others thought about the effectiveness of back placement.

Holy Crap. Thats some flow. I would be afraid of stripping the flesh right off the acros. Lol. I was thinking about adding 2 mp10. Maybe to the back of the tank.

thats the good thing about the reefcrest mode, its constantly changing so coral not getting hit the same way all day everyday.

I have mine on opposite ends of the tank, a little offset of each other and approximately 8inches of height difference. I felt like having them on the back the flow was bouncing off the front glass and wrecking havoc with my clam and bubble coral. Keeping the powerheads on the ends allows me to tuck the bubble coral in some rock outcroppings and prevents it from getting blown around to much

I have 4 MP40 on my 250 all on reefcrest 100% crazy flow for my acros.
How do you keep the fishes not to be stressed out? I can run my MP40 on my RSR 250 higher than 50% or the firefish goes into hiding mode

Run 4 MP40’s and 2 Reefwave 45’s on 8’ tank. ReefWaves at 80% random and MP40’s pulse/constant/reef all random at different percentages throughout the day

On My RSR 250I have a MP40 on the left side and just bought a MP10 for the right side. with 1 MP40 I was not getting enough turbulent flow, tank is new and only have a few zoas GSP and mushrooms, no SPS. I have a question and how the ecosmart modes work with the WXM? are they synched the same way as if you had a master MP and a slave?

This is my schedule on the APEX:

How much power you run them at?

I don’t like cables and square adhesives on the sides. That’s why I am running them on the back wall.

Earlier in this thread I posted screenshots of my wxm schedule for one of the mp40s just to give you an idea of power settings. I vary it throughout the day. I get what ya mean about the cables and adhesives. I found that I run the cord at the water line which sort of "hides" the wire when viewed from the side. In my room the tank is best viewed from the front and not really in a position that I'd be viewing it for any length of time from the side
