So I woke up the rust colored growth on my live rock and sand. Then my littlest clownfish died. It had not been looking well for a few days.

Poor guys I feel for ya. I would recommend quarantining them if you have other fish, I concur on the freshwater dip. You can address both issues with chemicals once you identify them. Keep us posted

Do you have any thoughts on what was on the sand? Can we have pictures of it? Did you dose anything to try to kill it? Did you add any new ‘wet’ livestock (fish, corals, CUC, rocks, anything)? Did the dead clown have any peculiar markings? What are your water perams?

I posted about rust colored, I guess algae, earlier with pictures. Link below
Yup Still not 100% sure what to do about that.
I just got a lawnmower Benny & a royal gramma the other day. The clownfish that died is pictured below. It was not doing well for about 4 days. I dont see anything on it. I also don't see any spots on the other fish.

So about freshwater dig....
What is best watee conditioner to use?
should I dip all the fish?
what should I put in water to keep it from coming back? Meds?
water change? 25%? 50%? Should I get water for LFS?

And lastly what to do about the rust stuff????

Im so bummed, maybe I should've stuck with the bulldog. Lol

Wow man, that’s tough. Can’t really help with the sand stuff cause all my tanks are barebottom but hopefully this gets back on the main page and someone who knows more can help.
