What on Earth is this???

Im kind of leaning towards a sea cockroach did you by chance use live sand when starting your tank?
Yeah it doesnt look anything like those pictures and its kinda squishy

I used carib sea sand, been up since November of last year
Any live rock introductions? Looks like an isopod shell but is a little different im windering if you had live rock and live sand uf ut might have been laid before putting into your tank and has grown since. Especially in live sand if conditions are good and biome is good.

Hiw big is it can you do a size comparison to a regular household product so we can poss. see the size

Its probably a centimeter and a half. And I did all dry rock from my LFS when I set the tank up

For a household item, I would say maybe a tad longer than a standard dice

Hmmmm interesting could be some kind of isopod but not sure i would at this point just keep it out of the tank since there is no clear id and who knows where it might have come from. Would you be interested in trying to uncurl it or grab with tweezers and try and get a picture of the underside....

Yes I will when I get home. Its in an acclimation box right now

I agree with some type of isopod! @ISpeakForTheSeas Any thoughts?

What if it is not in the box when you get home and you can't find it again? How will you ever sleep in that house again?

Following.

It almost looks Echinoderm-adjacent, with the rows of little tentacles and tough skin. Could it maybe be a form of sea cucumber? A know that several cuke species will tighten into a ball when disturbed, like the first pic.

So I came home and he has extended some. Has a white circled mouth. Here are pictures

Okay so its also aware and moving much more now. Not sure if it was scared or is nocturnal

Well, it's somethin'! Though I'm not sure what. Probably some sort of worm. I'd suggest a quick 100% water change (i.e. dump the cup's water back into the tank and fill it again) to help keep it alive while folks try and figure out what it is.

Its still in the acclimation box. Its now back to being all curled up, kinda leads me to think it might be nocturnal.
