Hey all, Im setting up my new tank and wanted some opinions. I was thinking of going with a gyre 3K..... If this was your tank, what would you use?

If quiet is a concern, then I wouldn't recommend the 3k. I have one that's about 4 months old and it's kind of loud, even after cleaning. If my TV is on I can barely hear it, otherwise I can hear it easily.... to the point my wife is complaining about it lol.
If noise isnt an issue it does produce good flow.

If money is not an issue I would do 2 MP10. Im a reefer on a budget so I currently use Jeboa PP pumps and really like them over all a good low cost pump they also make Gyre pumps as well. Tunze pumps are very long lasting and high quality. Maxspect wouls be my choice if wanting to run a gyre pump.

Budget is definitely an issue... Ive been trying to gather the equipment for this since last summer lol. Perhaps I can start with one MP10 and then add a second later...

Check out the Reefbreeders Powerhead, those look very promising at the same price as the 3k gyre.

I would go with the Icecap 1k gyre. It’s less expensive than the other. The build quality is not the same but the maxspect is more than double the cost. I’m my 60, I run one gyre, and mp60 dialed way back and a Tunze nano stream.

Have had 4 gyres and have finally given up. IMO they are made with very flimsy parts that constantly need maintenance so that they can be competitively priced. While I like the concept, I will not purchase any more until someone else starts making them with more durable materials.
