This is for my 57 gallon build!

I like lower flow tanks. I will have all types of corals in there from SPS, LPS, Chalices and Zoa/Paly

im liking the tunze nano stream 6045 (they have flow control!) i was thinking 2 of those

Good choice!. Tunze are nice, as are vortechs. Not sure if that was an optionf or you or not. Ive owned both, and they both have there pros and cons, but there still both solid.

Im like you, I like low flow tanks. It seems when I turn up my flow in my tank everything gets mad, even when I gradually turn them up.

yep! thats why I like this tunze because the flow is adjustable and it is not to large on the side of the tank

honestly I didnt even look at any of the vortechs.

what are your pros and cons with both?

I love my Tunze's, anytime I need something the customer service is the best too

i have tunze..u can adjust flow and u can rotate to where u want it plus its small

But the vortechs are AWESOME!!!!! Its the only powerhead i will ever use now that i have experienced it for myself!

Zach,do you find the Vortechs noisy at all? Thats the only complaint Ive ever read about.Yet some ppl say there quiet.

Following this, planning on getting either vortechs or tunze for my 55 bowfront Tunze seem to be the winning in my mind atm

If you've got an apex the vorTech's are nice because you can control the flow. You can set up all types of profiles. Tunzes I've heard are great also but more of a directional flow. I have vortech controlled with an apex and am very happy.

I love my Vortech. I have no issue with noise and the different modes are great. The flow can be cranked up high and it has a great disbursement, hitting more areas. With an apex it would make it even better because you can have it automatically change between modes on the pump (if I remember correctly)

the mp10 are a little noisy running on full power but get a 40 at 50% and its nice and quiet. =) i love vortech myself.. =0)

I love my mp10. Like sexy said it can be a bit noisy if turned all the way up, but mine isn't so it's pretty quiet. I do love that the undertow on it is so strong. I only have 1 in my 45 cube and it makes a wave and makes my anemone say back and forth.

I, have read a number of complaints about the noise from Vortechs. My own experience is quite different. On one of my tanks I have 2 MP10s and on the other 1 MP60 (about to buy a 2nd) and they are as quiet as can be. There is no doubt that improper alignment can cause both noise and vibration, however, that is something that can be remedied quickly and easily.
Having said that, I am eager to try a Tunze and will be buying one to add to the MP10s.
I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either. I just didn't want the OP to reject the Vortechs simply because of the noise issue.

I just replaced one in my tank. Every time I would adjust the flow down, the pump would vibrate the propeller off. I finally got fed up and tossed it!!

I like the vortech a lot. I have two mp10s, one on my 39 and one on my 45. Never had problem with noise. No experience with the tunzes though.

I have 2 MP10's on my 55 and the flow I get is pretty good. I have them antisynced on reef crest mode. The noise is minimal from them. The only time I hear them is if I have them misaligned.
