What protein skimmer should I get ?

I have a remora hang on skimmer now but it doesn't pull the kind of stuff I see in sump skimmers pull. What should I upgrade to? I have a 75 gal display with a 20 gal tall sump. Links would be cool. :nerd:

I love my ASM and at the time I bought it (2 years ago) I think it was the best thing going. A G1 would probably work in your tank. There may be better options today, but I know the GSM's are reasonably-priced, well-designed, durable, and do the job! I have a G3 on a heavily stocked 200 gallon system and it fills the big cup in less than a week.

Looking good man! Lower the water internally in the skimmer so the top is at the bottom of the neck. The way you have it right now its going to overflow once it breaks in. Keep the air all the way open as well. Let it go for a few days and it will start skimming and then you can adjust the internal water level with the red gate valve.

Probably need to put baffles in the middle to keep the water level the same. If not, you'll probably find yourself having to constantly adjust the skimmer to continue to pull correctly. I put baffles in my sump for just this reason. I have a glass sump, but used acrylic baffles that I had Lowes cut for me. Worked great.

I agree, but I think I need a little bigger sump tank for that. This one is a 20 gal tall.
