What pump for JBJ ATO?

Having a bit of trouble trying to figure out what pump to get. There is not really any recommendations on the sites selling these... which is a little silly to me.

But what pump should I get?

I have a 12 gallon sump, 4g return pump section which is the only section of the sump that fluctuates and where the ato sensors will be. The DT is 20gallons. So the entire system is 32 gallons.

Ready to place my order, but just need to know what pump! Thanks!

Toms aqualifter is what I use on mine.. :wink:
Had a Rio 150 that only lasted 5-6 weeks and stopped working while I was in Vegas for the weekend picking up a frag tank from TL. :bigsmile:

you can really use any pump. im using a brs 50L dosing pump. you could use a aqualifter or even a maxijet. hydor also makes a few tiny low watt pump which would work real well also

I just use a small maxi jet.

I own a toms aqualifter but have never been able to use it because they cant handle much head pressure or lift and if the reservoir is under the tank it could never pump the water that high.

I use the aqualifters myself... There cheap like $12 so there pretty much disposable when running kalk through them... I get a year out of one running kalk through it..

You guys rock! Thanks so much for your help again! I use an aqualifter on my cpr overflow so I am familiar with that. I will just order two that way I have a back up if either aqua lifter goes. I know they don't last super long.

I use the brs 50ml dosing pump too. Main reason is it wont back syphon or flow through. Its a bit pricey for a ato pump but I have had mine 2 years now and trust it over anything I have had. otherwise I would use a aqualifter.

I use an aqualifter on mine, I have a rather large sump and it sometimes has a little trouble pumping enough water to completely refill the sump. Male sure you set the internal timer up higher than the preset 3 minutes...the timer is to help prevent your pump from damaging itself if your ato is empty and the pump is sucking air. It will automatically shut your pump off at a set amount of time even if it has not refilled your sump enough to close the float valve circuit. Your best bet is to google how to set it, but once you get the back cover off it is pretty obvious. Also, make sure your feed line is above your the water line of your sump (the water is being poured on from above) otherwise you will get a back siphon which will be sucking water in and out if your sump as it goes above and below your float valve (known as an infinite loop like on the back of shampoo bottles "lather rinse repeat").
