So I am installing an RODI unit this weekend in the garage directly under my tank. Unfortunately running the plumbing directly up through the wall is not an option, per the wife, so I figured I would make RODI and mix saltwater there. Then I need a pump to move the water up one floor about 35 - 40 ft to the tank. Am I nuts for thinking this is doable without buying some crazy expensive pump?

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Somewhat....it's the "up one floor" part that's the killer.

Which plumbing is not OK to run through a wall yet is OK to run 40' of through the house every week?

Anyway...

I think I've seen the Aquatec RODI pressure pumps recommended for this....think they're diaphragm pumps so they can handle the head pressure. Good for your RODI, but I don't know if they're saltwater friendly though.

You can probably link two larger ordinary, cheap pumps like a Rio 3100, (or more smaller pumps) in serial and do it that way with normal 3/4" vinyl tubing. Just pick up a whole 50' roll of tubing....which will cost you a bit.

Yeah, she is used to me bringing up a 55 gallon poly drum, filling it with water and mixing it in front of the tank. She doesn't want me cutting the wall and running any plumbing. I was trying to do everything down in the garage and then pump the water up to the tank but it looks like that is going to require a serious pump.

I'll check to see if that Aquatec RODI pump can handle saltwater or see if I can find out.

The series of cheapie ordinary pumps is also an option....saltwater friendly for sure.
