Money is not an issue, what's the best top/reliable refractometer i can buy?

I’ve been using this since I got in the hobby, very precise and easy to use

I have a plain old Bulk Reef Supply refractometer. I calibrate it with a 35 ppt fluid. It works just fine.

The vee gee hands down, it is lab grade

As you said refractometer, the MA887 is simple and reliable and consistent, but not that accurate.

For accuracy, but less convenient, the Hanna digital checker.

I have the Hanna Salinity checker but should have gotten this instead. Will eventually. Much easier to calibrate and using a dropper quick enough. I'm not messing with manual refractometers.

Couldn’t be happier with it. It also gives you temp which is a nice added bonus

If money is not a concern, conductivity meters are a better bet than refractometers. They have more uses, and are more precise.

Chemical oceanographers do not use refractometers, but hobbyists do.

A good conductivity meter with a 4 electrode probe is perfect. Some folks get them used on ebay. Old orion meters, for example. I have the model 128.

That said, exact salinity is not that critical, so less than perfect devices are perfectly adeqate for hobbyists.
