What return pump to use?

Hi everyone, will be setting up a new 36" x 18' x 12" tank.
How many gallon pump will be suitable?
Will be keeping mainly SPS.

What size bulk head for you overflow? were is you sump going to be located? It look like you will have a 31 gallon water volume in a empty display, then you will have to calculate the water volume of the sump. once you have the number that we can do the math on the size of the pump.

My sump is 36" x 12 " x 12". Bulk Head is 1 x 1.5".

I would look for a return pump that gives you a 150 to 175 gallon per hour after head loss.

I was thinking of using the Ehiem 1260 or Sicce 3.0

you can certainly use any pump you want, but IMO both pumps are way too much.
At least I would not use them.

I'm using the Sicce 2.0 and it's perfect! Same setup as you.

Do you tee off to any reactor?

You could also look into DC pumps to control flow. A DCT4000 is a good pump and you can dial down the flow to get where you want to be. JMO

No. When I do use a reactor (as needed) its with its own pump. Makes for easier removal.
