What RO/DI did I buy?

I picked this used unit up today and I took it apart and cleaned it up. He said he's had it for about a year and a half, paid $400 or so. He sold it for $40. He didn't get into it but said he had to move out quickly, couldn't be bothered to try to get more for it, and if it didn't sell quick enough, it was going to go in the trash.

From what I can tell, it's 4 stage, there's other upgrades to it but I have little to no idea what I'm looking at. I went to my LFS and bought all new filters and membrane and I installed them according to the LFS said (although he didn't look at the unit).

Can people help me and tell me what I'm looking at? the black tube has the faucet attachment, but which is the waste water and which is the good water? where do I hook up the TDS meter thing?

From the looks of it, the good water would be your blue line and the yellow is waste water.

From what I can tell, that is the house brand of J&L Aquatics in Burnaby. Probably be best to email them and see if they can help. They don't have any RO units on their website so this may be something they just put together on special request.

Google and Youtube are your friends here. RO hardware is all generally the same no matter the brand so that won't be hard. Looks like you have a booster pump so do some searches on how to properly run that. In-line TDS meters all pretty much work the same way as well so it's just a matter of what you want to monitor that depends on probe placement. Just make sure the probes are aligned correctly in the housing or you will skew your readings.
It's a lot to look at at first glance but it's all pretty basic stuff. With a few searches and some watched videos you'll be a pro in no time.

Actually if that works you got yourself a deal... well you did anyway, but. It looks to have a couple solenoids on it. That would indicate an "auto-flush" system that automatically flushes your system when ever you use it. The old Aqua-Max/Purtek system used to do that.

Ok, so I youtubed and read stuff online.

I spliced in the TDS meter and changed the batteries in it as well. Ran it for 15min before and after to flush the system. Took 1hr and 15mins to fill up the 7 Gallons I needed.

The display thing seems to flush out the unit automatically, and shows the TDS (out I assume) and the run time.

TDS in seems super low (59), so I checked the probes and they were installed correctly. Everything seems to work great except for a small leak on this valve thing that seems to adjust the PSI when I turn the screw, I ran it at about 80 PSI. TDS out was was 0 so I guess it's working.

I call it a win, $40 for the unit, and $115 for the filters and membranes stuff.
