Every time I think I know which rock to do, I choke.

Here is the choices...

Any white dry rock,
Walt Smith 2.1
Real Reef Rock

.... so basically every type of rock there is lol

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!

real reef rock, do your best to find rock that was air shipped. any dry rock will act as a sponge and in time a nutrient biscuit leaching everything it has soaked back into your display.

What do you mean by air shipped?
And I guess that narrows down to real reef rock or the Walt smith rock!!

Most rock now days is shipped via boat in cardboard boxes and when it arrives at your door, ~ a week later, it only has but a fourth of its life left on it. air shipped however only takes a day or two to get to you. You may be hard pressed to find such rock, but if you do you will know by the price of $13/lb. One key to look for in rock, it shouldnt look like rock, more like coral/reef structure. The inside should be solid, white, and not crumble when it is broken

"This rock to come in via air freight from Bali/Jarkarta. This same rock sells for 13.99 lb via Live Rock n Reef in Colorado n Florida. Fiji rockand a few others are no longer brought in via airfrieght . The boat wars won that round . It comes in 1/4 alive if live at all . It can be had a lot cheaper. Manado and GMP rock are the only ones that come into the country vi air freight that I am aware of." My discussion about rock with a man who has been reefing before 2008

That is the most recent Walt smith rock

Jeez that sounds familiar ...lol
Walt Smith rock is also man made rock version 2 is out and it is also aquacultured.
Real reef rock is not live rock per se. It is man made rock that is painted and aquacultured .
Tukani , Tatoka, Walt Smith Fiji, Vanuatua ?, Pukani are all boat rock. These are true live rocks that come in well ..Like I said in that quote .
To the OP .All the rock you have listed are man made or dead live rock sold as dry now.

I guess in this case, quote the buddha and it shall appear

Ha .. I am pretty sure I showed all that I found in my rock which was from the same lot . I was the guilty party of providing the doggie treats .
He finds stuff that I don't see and I have stuff that he doesn't have coming from the rock . All from the same shipment though. U can also check my build thread . No corals are missing or being eaten .Worms are part of the live rock . The the tank is fallow atm .

Well that stinks. Maybe you can have a lfs order some. There's one in little rock that always has it. I have this rock in two tanks right now. My only complaint is that it keeps the tank too clean. I actually have to dose nitrate in both tanks. It has a large variety of beneficial critters crawling all over it. I have breeding populations of snails, chiton and many more. It's definitely worth it if you can get your hands on it.

Why not use Life Rock by Carib Sea. If you don't mind purple CSLR is loaded with beneficial bacteria, you don't have to worry about unwanted pest or PH because it's manufactured. After your cycle add pods and whatever else you like.
