When I was dabbling in this hobby 10+ years ago, I tried to maintain an SG of 1.024. I've noticed lately that different products and different sources recommend anywhere from 1.023 to 1.026. Is there a target SG or salinity level that experience has taught y'all works best for healthy tanks?

1.025 for my reef and 1.020 for my fowlr tank.

Interesting. Why the lower salinity in the FOWLR tank?
The owner of my closest fish/reef store informed me that having fowlr in lower salinity helps fend off any parisites. I've been friends and dealing with him for 15 years and all his fish only tanks he sells out of are at 1.020 - 1.021 any tank with corals and fish he has at 1.025 - 1.026 and every tank is tested and labeled before the store doors open daily so anyone that comes in can see what salinity the tank is at that they choose a fish out of.
I have a 55 gallon tank I use as a QT and if the fish is going in my reef I match my QT to the salinity the fish came from and slowly raise it over the course of 30 days before they are introduced to my DT. I've never lost a single fish from him to a parisite or anything is it luck maybe but in his 30 years of business and success I can't argue with him lol.
