Hello all. I have been out of the hobby for a while now, and I have recently decided that I am going to start up a small tank that will eventually be sps dominated, with a few fish. Wow, so many new products have hit the market since I had my last reef, I used to have a 360 mixed reef with all the bells and whistles. A divorce lead me to sell everything, and it's been about 5 years now since I have even been into a fish store. I used to use Salinity salt by Seachem, it was good stuff. I don't see it anywhere now a days, so I have to decide on which salt I will go with to start the new tank. I am leaning towards Tropic Marine Reef Pro, after reading it's breakdown it seems pretty good. Please let me know what you also guys are using, and best place to order it from, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I used Red Sea pro for two years. I switched to Tropic Marin and I recommend TM. All the minor elements are the same with TM salts I believe. Just differences in alkalinity & calcium.

Also, TM is cleaner. When I used Red Sea Blue Bucket, it was soooo dirty after mixing

Reef crystals has always been good enough for me. And it’s not too expensive. Around $50 to $60 for a 200 gallon box at my LFS.

Whatever salt has the parameters you are trying to keep! All will do a fine job. I will say that the BRS investigates where a few brands mix up quick and clear is appealing to myself and many hobbyists but not necessary to have an amazing sps tank. Jason fox for example runs standard instant ocean. Can’t argue with his success

^^What he said. Use whichever salt mix is closest to your desired parameters. Their are pros and cons to all salts. I'm lazy and like HW so I don't have to clean out the storage containers and don't want to pay 30 more for TM. Plus I run 9 Dkh and TM Pro is 7.

I’ve been successful with standard IO.
