What Salt Mix are you using in your reef?

I believe a good salt mix is imperative to a well rounded, flourishing, reef tank. It provides all the major and minor trace elements needed by corals to color and grow, especially acropora. With that being said I like to take an inventory of what brand people are using out there and see if there is a clear cut leader in salt mixes

Been using Kent Marine Reef Salt Mix, it mixes well - Alk 9.3 / Mg. 1350 / Cal. 470 I've been getting it from Drs. Foster & Smith for 44.99 a box. I get 2 boxes at a time for the free shipping.

Just started using aqua craft bio sea. I switched from reef crystals. So far I'm pleased with the new stuff.

I was using Salinity for a while, but when we got the big tank it just got too dad gum expensive so I went back to Reef Crystals. Can't really tell any difference, 'cept that salinity seemed to mix faster. I mix at least overnight with a submersible pump, so that doesn't really matter.

I have always wanted to try that salt. I am a big fan of Red Sea Coral Pro. I use to mix reef crystals and tropic Marin pro but I didn't see the touted results others in my local reef group saw so I went back to RSCP.

My tank gets weekly water changes. One week I will use Red Sea Pro and the next week I'll use Reef Crystals. My coral seem to be much healthier and growing much faster since I started this routine. I thought I was the only one that mixed salts, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone.

ESV salt, little hassle using a digital scale each time even for small water volume but it mixes clear. very consistent numbers, and never leaves residue.
It can be used IMMEDIATELY after mixing, which can take 30-40 mins.
I think salts, the key is consistency; our corals love that.

I began years ago with Reef Crystals and then went through several other brands. I have found faults with several of them over the years and have had algae issues with plenty. Recently I have switched back to Reef Crystals, just have to bump up the magnesium levels as its typically low. Otherwise, great for the price especially when you have a large system.
