I am in the process of setting up my new reef, and was going to use instant ocean, but it went up by like 20$ when they added map pricing. are their any other good cheap salt brands?

MAP pricing on IO? Hadn't heard that one yet.

IO is perfectly fine to use in a reef tank, and the price makes it even better.

Just keep an eye on the price, usually chewy, petsmart, or petco has it on sale a couple times a year.

I've used just about every commercial salt on the market minus tropic marin(just can't justify the price).

Never noticed any difference between any of them besides parameters. For the cost I have used IO for the better part of 30 years.

Everything has gone up in price, thanks inflation! IO normally goes on sale for around $25 a 200G box if you can catch it. I usual;ly grab a couple boxes when it does.

FWIW, petsmart, and petco will price match if they have instore.

I have seen a couple mentions about IO going to MAP pricing but nothing verified. Petco has raised their price to $69.99.

Just bought some off chewy a couple months ago, forget the exact price, but it wasn't anywhere near $70.

That is good. I thought it was in a video from Macna that mentioned it going to MAP pricing but I do not remember what one.
