What salt to use?

(not sure if OP is still making up their mind but got a notification there had been new activity on this thread) after all the research I've done and forums I've read through it certainly does seem stability trumps pretty much whatever salt you choose...with that being said, I'd imagine you play it pretty safe using a salt like Red Sea which is from evaporated sea water if I remember right...I don't think I've ever really heard any complaints about it tbh

I've been using Live Aquaria and Fritz RPM (blue box) interchangeably for a while now since they both appear to be the exact same salt. Pretty sure Fritz is making/rebranding the LA branded salt for LA.

I buy either version when its on sale for $50/bucket at places like Petco/Petsmart. Petco sells LA salt and Petsmart sells fritz. I buy whichever one that goes on sale.

I'm using a bag of IO salt that I bought a long time ago and I'm just using it up to get rid of it and I can't stand using it.... as soon as I mix even a little bit it to my mixing bin, the bin starts getting brown and gross looking. The LA and Fritz salt never does that. it mixes fast and clear every time. I don't care how good the savings are with IO, it isn't worth using when I can't even stand to look at the mixing bin after using it. I'll stick with the cleaner salts and pay a little more. $50/bucket is fine with me.

Thanks for posting this...

I also used to use seachem reef salt. I was searching just now to find someone's opinion on the Vibrant Sea stuff. The params look pretty good per their site.

pH 8.4-8.5 || KH 3-4 meq/L || Ca 425-445 mg/L || Mg 1,250-1,350 mg/L || K 500-550 mg/L || Sr 8-10 mg/L

Are you finding it to be consistent? I'm using Coralife right now but was fish only. I'm thinking of switching up to something else.

I personally think this is the best salt on the market.. Parameters seems to stay the same even in a 3 gallon pico. I am however, religious in my water changes, every week, Saturday, 1pm 1 gallon well for the tank, in my other tanks I normally do about 33% water change each week, but they are 15 gallons so, keeps cost of salt down and limited to one 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot. :) I keep it simple, but the parameters are perfect consistently..
