I have 2 new Maspect Gyres and since opening them have them so they work opposite on antisynchronized. What settings do other reefers have ? I see there is many combinations

I have one which is on a pulse setting

I use the pulse at 1.5 seconds on 100%. I have 2 gyre fx330 on one end and 2 mp40 on reefcrest at 75% on the other end. I would go with random the if that's the only pumps you have for wavemakers.

2 xf330 gyres in a reefer 250..

Running LTC mode at 100% - 80%

So far I'm not complaining about the flow pattern..
Lots of random flow..
Tank is just starting out with some LPS and some SPS..
Gonna be SPS dominant, so time will tell if it's sufficient..

2 xf 350 running 100% random mode. They lose about 80% flow every few weeks. They are not designed well IMO

Losing flow every 2 weeks?
Mine are set up 4 months ago, did not yet clean them..
Flow is still moving sand on the bottom, just like in the first week of setting up..
Do you use the caps provided? So light is blocked from the rotors?

I have two 230’s running a custom program consisting of a mix of gyre sync and anti-sync, pulse, steady and random. I run at a mixture of 20%-50% on both pumps. My display is about 37 gallons.

yes setup properly, they coat with slime from bacteria. Large established sps heavy tank with low nutrients but my fare share of stuff to clean... wish I’d get more but I’m also very anal about my flow. I have 5 mp40 and 2 Neptune power heads in there so when the gyres lack I get odd formations in my sand bed.

it’s the inside rotor in the middle unit that seems to get bacteria coating that slows it down but every two weeks I take the sides off and pop out the middle rotor to clean. Takes 10 mins but still annoying.

Does running them on a Hydros WaveEngine count? 100% but depending on time of day it runs Sine wave, Nutrient Export, SPS mode.

Not happened to me yet!
I can imagine it is annoying to say the least..

Do you have pics ( or Video my favorite) of your set-up....I am thrilled to see it...especially with all those flows you have going on

How old is your tank? I find they do great in my smaller frag tank that just turned 1 year old even though it has a higher nutrient load and more algae. For some reason the internal motor loves to get coated with bacteria in my main display.

seems to be common based on experiences from others that post here. Nothing beats the surface agitation I get from gyres and I do like how they don’t blasted my corals like the mp40s do....just stinks cleaning them so much.

3 foot 75 gallon.

Have my xf330 10 to 80% gradual pulse on one end.

Jebao SOW15 sine wave to max power and a tunze 6095 long pulse 50 to 100% on the other end.

Here is a video I made to show the aeration on a discussion I had earlier this week on boosting my pH:

Two years ago:

Here are other videos of my tank, i'm bad about posting updated stuff though. :)

When I spoke to support they mentioned that the "reverse" mode is extremely inefficient with these so I would think the anti-sync method is essentially wasting the flow potential of one gyre. If one is at 90 the other is 10... I think random on each side is the way to go to maximize flow potential (if you don't like constant mode).

When I used to run constant mode they would need to be cleaned less but all the acropora at the top of the tank started to form flat surfaces on the side of the flow and it affected the look/growth pattern and PE for the worse.

My tank is fairly young, 7 months now.. so maybe that's why? I don't know.
Yeah I love the gyres too.. great flow.. only hope I don't have to clean them every few weeks in the future

Awesome tank btw!

How are you running the SOW on the Hydros!!!! Im trying to figure that out right now!!!
