I have an 11-month-old mixed reef BioCube 32 gal. I'm looking to add at least one more fish, but I'm very unsure of what to get.

My current livestock members have lived together peacefully for at least six months now. I had a Purple-headed Firefish once, but the others ganged up on it and bullied it to death months ago. I don't want that to happen again. I'd like a fish that has a realistic chance of fitting in, but who also won't hide all the time. Since my tank is a mixed reef, it has to be reef safe. Since it (or they) are coming in last, they need to be able to hold their own.

Any suggestions?

Here's what I have now:

2 x Ocellaris Clowns
1 x Royal Gramma
1 x Lawnmower Blenny

1 x Cleaner shrimp
1 x Tuxedo urchin
1 x BTA (rainbow or rose, not quite sure)
Assorted softies and LPS
And an assortment of snails and hermits

Thanks!

I’d leave it at 4 fish total. That clown pair will get big and nasty as they age. Potentially killing your other guys as well due to the size of territory they claim. Most new nano fish won’t really be able to withstand 4 aggressive fish either as the 4 established fish have the high ground of territory to protect whilst the new fish don’t have a territory to hide in.

I have a black molly who is a very peaceful fish, however she is not the smartest fish in the sea and thinks my firefish's long dorsal fin is a worm to eat. So I will occasionally see her go for his fin but luckily my royal gramma doesn't allow this to happen and if he sees her doing it he will chase her away lol.

Might have some room in there for a bottom dwelling goby, or a goby/shrimp combo. It depends where the blenny lives though, depends if your current fish are mean or mellow, you know better than us.

Perhaps a cleaner goby, most fish will leave cleaner fishes alone.

My fifth fish in my 32 was a clingfish, they also keep to themselves and all other fishes seem to leave that guy alone.

A pair of shrimp gobies with a symbiotic shrimp would be ideal in your tank. A pair of Randal Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli) or Yasha goby (Stonogobiops yasha) with a/pair of Candy cane shrimp goby (Alpheus randalli) would be the thing to add if I have your tank.

Agree. Clowns can and are territorial so in that size it’s already enough - answer is to Upgrade ! ! !

There's not alot of room for swimming fish in our sized aquarium

I have 45g aquarium and my swimming inhabitants are 2 X clown, 3 X fire fish, 2 X chromis, mandarin, for my size aquarium I think X 9 swimming fish was max to allow room for growth as the more they grow the more room/territory they require (my aquarium is 2 years old)

I'm still learning alot but this is just my aquarium/ experience.

I have a high fin goby, pistol shrimp, fire shrimp, fire fish relationship happening in my cave

I'll try to post some videos/pictures

I also have urchins/crabs/snails/ star fish etc

(This is just my aquriam/thoughts to hopefully help you in your aquarium choices, maybe options for you to look into

Hopefully it will help you
:)

hawkfish, halichores wrasses, gobies and blennies(wont get noticed), giant female mollies, puffers (will probably eat coral), all can stand up to clownfish agression. but honestly, i do not think clownfish ever get thsi agressive. the problem is self causing, on a reef, clowns are kinda dummed down cause there are sharks and stuff that could instantly kill them. the fear of agression leads to "isolating" the fish based on territoriality which leads to more agression cause they think they are the boss. with all animals, to domesticate them, you need to show them who's boss.
