So I have this tiny 0.5 gallon tank and I was wondering, what should I do with it? Maybe a Pico reeftank? Also, I need suggestions on what equipment should I use on it.

1/2 gallon ! I thought a sexy shrimp & one rock a little sand. right off. No filtration really, regular water change would be easy maybe a tiny power head I like the idea.

Hmmm..... I might do that. Theres not a lot of power outlets in my room so that'll be a plus. Also, should I go barebottom? I won't be putting any light on it so algae won't be a problem.

Maybe just enough sand to cover the bottom? You like the look of sand?
I wonder if a small 1 bulb, fresh water aquarium fixture ?
The beauty of such a small tank is it can very easily be emptied ,cleaned & setback up in no time.

I can't imagine dealing with algae on this tank. I'll probably go with no light and a thin layer of sand.

Drill holes in it and float it as a acclimation box for new fish. Couple days later let thrm out. If you do drill holes drill backwards, forward drilling will crack the plastic.

Tangs and great whites are fine since they are usually at different levels of sea and tangs too small for the great white. So, you should be fine in that nice size tank.

Even keeping a sexy shrimp will require stability. You would need to test salinity, alkalinity, calcium and magnesium. They need these things to molt. And not a lot of marine organisms enjoy a zero photoperiod.

I really feel that you will experience more frustration than enjoyment with this tank. You might have more fun using it for a freshwater Betta. They are beautiful and better suited for an 8-cup tank.

Find a very tall building and drop it from the top of it, then go buy yourself a bigger, easier and more satisfying tank. ;Smuggrin

Planted fuge that is separate from sump but is still connected to DP... has mangroves, algae, shrimps, crabs - beautiful little thing?

Can use as a culturing box for brine shrimp, or maybe pods (have no experience with culturing pods though).
