I currently have a 55gal fowlr but the parameters are screwed and I need to upgrade my tank. I am planning on buying a 100 to 120gal tank and set up a sump refugium and all that. The only thing is I can't decide if I should keep my fish or simply redone them all and start from scratch. I have a blue tang, ocellarius clown, green spotted puffer I converted to salt water and a trigger they are all fairly small still had them for about 2 to 3 years now. Any suggestions would love to get zoas as they swent to be the only legal thing I can keep besides fish and rocks. But I want to simply have a better looking tank and healthy one so zoas are not super important for me atm. Would love some shrimp though and more mellow fish

I'm wondering where your location is regarding only legally keeping zoanthids, I've never heard of that. Stony corals may be a no, but that doesn't limit you that much-you could still have mushrooms, leathers, etc.

Anyway, with a bigger tank I'd clear out the trigger and puffer if you want to do corals. Well, depending on the species of trigger. They'll most likely eat the corals you put in. And a big bonus, you can put in more gentle fish. But there's always really neat fish only systems... but that will keep you from having shrimps and most of a cleanup crew, and other fish.

Keep the 55 for a sump. Even if it doesn't fit under the stand, you can do what I did and place it next to the tank. It works, even if it looks kinda strange compared to other people's setups. I like it this way now that I've done it-One look and I can see the entirety of my system without having to open any doors!

Hawaii as far as I know all coral is illegal here I know feather dusters are legal and see people selling zoas only but rarely

I don't mind the predators they get along fine just that the trigger nips a lot at the rock and if a fish goes near it's holes it will chase it off and sometimes go into there hole and nip them out. that's how my sleeper head goby died. I was trying to spread coralline algae in this tank but it's been about a month now and I don't see any. think I will just keep the same stock for now and upgrade the tank. won't be setting it up anytime soon maybe in like a year or few months when I buy everything . does anyone know of a site where I can purchase a 100-150gal tank new with stand? I see used ones going for about $400 here but my 55gal is used and it is horrible for a display tank. don't think I can buy acrylic anywhere here from a hardware store which sucks. preferably looking for a wide tank instead of a long one that way I can stack rocks in back of each other instead of going tall only as it leaves the fish with little room to swim
