#reefsquad,

What type of coral is this, and what should be an action plan? I picked this up on sat. Looked great, now tonight I noticed this. Is it possibly from a sting? I thing my frogspawn(if that's correct) was a little to close to it.

Possible brown jelly disease. if you have a frag saw cut that section off plus a little more. It cam spread to other corals.

Dipping in iodine can help also.

My thoughts as well, doesn't really look like a sting.

Another note keep a real close eye on your Frogspawn as well for anything growing on it that looks similar

Exactly....

To me, The photo with blues on is the tattletale. A sting should just be white Skeleton. However you see coral color with the brown sludge...

@TK_KW can you smell it? How does it smell? If it smells rotten its definitely BJD..

#reefsquad, I didnt notice a smell when I took it out to dip it last night. But I'll check when I get home from work.

So I'm going to cut it tonight, discard the bad side. Watch the frog spawn. Up my water change schedule.

Maybe do iodine dip? Also can you dose iodine into water column or is it not recommended?

I wouldn't do it in the water column as there is too great a volume of water and it will disperse the effect of the iodine.
An this coral recovered and is still going strong.

I'm going to do dips regardless, wasnt planning on correcting this issue just by dosing water column. But am curious about dosing it aswell

If you have any crustaceans in your tank and you dose iodine to therapeutic levels, it may kill them by forcing a molt before the proper time.
That said, a tiny amount of iodine added periodically doesn't hurt and may benefit some creatures.
I personally dose 1 drop of Lugol's into 100 gallons, twice a week, without adverse effect.

#reefsquad @JoshH

This is as of today. Doesnt seem to have progressed. It doesnt smell rancid either, so I'm chalking it up as a sting from my frogspawn I guess?

I dipped it last night in reef primer, and think I'll dip again tonight. Does it seem better?

I also noticed my acan colony looks like it got stung too. Anything I should do, dip it aswell?

So for acan colony and this goni, up my waterchanges. Maybe dip every day?

Should I still cut the goni tonight?
