I have this coral rock that has palys mushrooms zoas and GSP. After looking at older pics there were def more zoas. The GSP is slowly taking over. Should I just remove rock and break in half. Just scared I’m gonna hurt all the zoas and palys. Not to mention the toxins they may release from getting damaged. There is no way I can peel the GSP off since it is encrusting over the zoas.
fisrt pic is how it was and second is what it looks like now.

Gsp will 100% take over that whole rock in time. If you want to keep the zoas I say you cut it in half and make absolutely sure no gsp makes it on the zoa side.

Depends, I've had chunks come off in sheets and other places it was so difficult to remove I ended up just scraping it, this how ever did not kill it and it regrew months later.
Huh that sucks. yea I only put gsp on my back wall so I could easily remove it and would spread to anything else.

Agree with others, I think the only way you will save the zoas is to remove the rock and cut it. GSP is known as the weed of the coral world for a reason. Though it can be beautiful, it can take over your tank in time with the right parameters.
