What should I get for my clowns?

I have an orange and a black pr. The orange one sleeps under the skimmer and the black one sleeps in the sand bed every night. The seem to like the power head a lot! I want to get them a nice coral to host but not sure which ones. I am not sure about a nem cuz they seem to move too much and would like to do more corals.

Some go to hammers torches frogspawns. Some go to shrooms if they feel the drive to find a host they'll rub almost anything sometimes killing the corals so keep a eye on any corals they may try to get to host them.

I had a pair that decided to host in a zoa colony, which irritated it. Thankfully the Duncan they moved to didn't mind at all. It also took several months before they began to host in anything.

How old is your system and your clowns? I have had clowns take 7 months to find a suitable place to live. Mine have taken to leather corals especially when no nem is present. However, I have found my nems do not move around much at all. My BTA, have not moved more than an inch since introduced years ago.

A nice big toadstool coral might be a good substitute.

New system with new clowns. Only been up and going for 2 months. They just paired up on the 11th. Within 5 hrs they have pretty much together constantly except when the lights go off. As soon as they come back on they get back together for the rest of the day.

Your tank is not mature enough for an anemone. I would go with a leather if you don't mind the future care. Meaning, they can get big, shoot off babies, and tend to be a bit more toxic to other corals, especially certain lps. I have a sinularia leather my maldives like. I had a pair in a Kenyan tree (these can get very invasive), and I have seen clowns in a toadstool (mine flitter back and forth to mine sometimes), and same with hammer or frogspawn.

Although, a little car would be good too.

My clown is being hosted by a colony of armor of God's. It took her about 3 years to finally find them.

Wow, 3 years, I feel bad that the poor thing may be sleeping in the sand that long. I have a nepthia that they have paid no attention to and not much to a gsp. I also have a very small toadstool started so maybe that would work in a few years, lol. Still not thinking of a nem cuz I have heard too many horror stories with them.

My clowns have made a ditch in the sand behind some rocks where they sleep. It's not a problem deciding on what you want really it's to get them to take up residence that's the hard part. If your clowns where captive breed and without predators they might not even pick a hosting coral.

They love nitrate. I can't grow them either because I don't have any nitrate

I can't grow it either . I also read somewhere that once it dies in the tanks it could possibly never grow in that tank but not sure that is true.

OK, so the black clown is showing really weird behavior. He goes to the burrow where the YWG and pistol shrimp are and rests his head on the sand right next to them. The YWG is not really happy about this so he keeps chasing the black clown away. This went on for about 5 hrs until the lights went out. I think the clown is trying to submit to the YWG and live with them in the burrow!
