I orderd a Photon 32 From reef breeders. And its going to be here on wend or thurs. Im stoked!

So my current setup is a 6 bulb T-5. I had 3 10k and 3 Super actinic. But Decided to go Led. I was looking at my bulbs and 4 pof them quit working..... So i had to use my saved bulbs from 2 yrs Before. So now im running 4 actinic and 2 10k.

Algea is starting t grow because of the spectrum shift. So im only running the 10k For 2-3 hrs a day. The rest is just Actinic.

My question is what % should i run my New Leds at when i get them. Dont wanna Kill any of my sps.

I would start out at 25% with them and add 5% each week to be safe. Watch your corals and see how they are reacting. Do they have a height adjustment? Is so i started mine at 2 foot above water and lowered every week untill i got the to 12 inches above water. I also had the whites on for 4 hours a day and increased them by 30 minutes each week untill i reached 8 hours. There is no magic you just have to be patient and acclimate yours corals to these leds.

I depends on the spectrum of leds but i've always started mine at a 12" from the surface of the tank at 45-50% Blues and 18-20% Whites then with a PAR Meter (if you have access to one) ensure that i'm getting a reading of 400 PAR off my highest coral. but at 12" running at the % above is safe with a 5-10 increase every week and half to two is safe. PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR CORALS DURING THIS TIME they can handle under PAR but not over PAR so look out for bleaching or whitening of any coral regardless of location. I had to move a few of my Chalices into the shadow of rocks when i transferred to leds and daily slid them toward open light now there fine in full light it just took them a little longer than most to adapt. ALL NEW CORAL GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK when you first bring them in unless they came from a local purchase that has leds running full out, never online orders you will turn them into white sticks. This is my HO and safest route i've found with leds with no lost. Post pictures of your set and progress with your new leds and hope this helped.

Also agree on the 25-30%. I ramped up my radions by 5% every 2 weeks with no issues.

You probably won't get to 100%, watch your corals once you start getting to 75%, they will tell you weather or not your good there.

The reason for the slow accumulation is to allow the zooxanthellae algae to adapt to the new spectrum and intensity If to fast intensity the Zooxanthellae will or sps will eject the extra but sadly the sps does not have a off valve so it expels all the zoo, now you have pretty coral with no zoo (sunscreen/sugar maker) getting cooked and can't produce them (zoo) fast enough to survive. once you get to (for some) 50-70% theres no need to increase it past that point. I seen some outstanding SPS/LPS tanks running at 65% thus is the reason for a PAR meter. For my tank i wont go past 65% (No need) i get great and fast growth now at 55%B/22%W and my end goal for my tank that works for me is 65%B/27-3-%W. If you run at 100% its hard to get new corals accumulated with issue unless they came from 100% led setting IMHO.

Just was wondering because the fixture is said to have 200 par at my tanks depth at 100% and thats what i was shooting for.

Guess ill see what it is when it gets here.

Theres nothing wrong with having the lights on 100% for testing with a Par meter right?

No there's no issue just to see if they really do it. Mine are 3000 PAR at source then drop as I did the surface/ Below surface the 5-6" down from left to right. 6" below surface is 420PAR for me and then another 5-6" is 250PAR with 130PAR on sand bed.
