What size is considered a nano?

Size matters in this equation, but what do you guys consider to be a nano?

I have a 30g and consider anything less than a 50g to be a nano. Is there a size limit that you would classify as a nano? Let's get this defined so we can post some pics!!!!

i wouldn't consider 30g as a nano.......but i guess with the inventions of the "all-in-one" tanks...that definition has kinda changed in recent years.

back when i started, i had a 20g glass tank, which i felt was on the max end of what you could call a nano. as it had a very retro lighting unit, and HOB fuge w/ no skimmer or other means of filtration.

IMO....one of those 24g all-in-one tanks, or maybe the 30g all-in-one tanks is max what you could call a nanotank only b/c of their simplicity.

but if you have a 30g glass cube, outfitted with plumbing to a sump and a big ole MH pendant.....that sucker definitely ain't no nano anymore....lol.

IMO, 10 gallons and under qualifies as a nano.

id say anything under 50 too
anything under 10 id consider a pico
but also, id base it more on footprint then just volume
30br has same footprint as 40br just shorter
33l is same as a 55 and i wouldnt really consider a 33l a nano either

In my reef club anything under 45gallon is a nano tank and anything under 10gallons is a pico tank.

45 does seem a little high but if you go on any Nano sites they usually talk about 55's too.

Red sea sells a "nano tank" in a 34gallon ....

I guess it's up to the person who owns the tank what they'd like to call it.

Me personaly ... anything that fits on a desk while being able to still use the desk would be a nano.

based on the majority of answers here.....and compared to when i first started in the hobby in 2004 with my little reef tank....the perceptions of what is defined as a nano tank has gotten considerably larger b/c of the advent of the "all-in-one" nano tank.

To be honest, anything smaller than the ocean is a nano, but probably under a 30 would be my guess.
