I'm thinking about placing PVC pipe through the floorboards to my basement for a sump, frag tank, and eventually other equipment. Because the tank is located above the furnace area, I want to run piping to the opposite side of the basement where there is also a drain and a faucet. I figure roughly 25 ft of horizontal piping and 10-15 ft vertical piping. What size of pump do I need to get the water back up to the tank or is that just to much of a distance?

Its a 55 gallon with a 20 sump. I need to find my tape measure..lol. I think I overstated the vertical, It's probaly closer to 5-10 ft.

How much flow are you shooting for in the tank?

If it were mine, ( I like slower flow) I'd shoot for no more than 300gph in the tank.

I don't need much flow. Tank has been running for over two years and the powerheads provide enough flow. Currently my sump sits beside the tank and its pump is low flow, but I want to move the sump downstairs to have room to add some toys, I know my current pump won't be able to handle the distance.
