I have a breeding system that has 7 10 gallon tanks and 3 20 long tanks.
Top row- (7) 10 gallon tanks and (1) 20 long tank.
2nd row (2) 20 gallon long tanks.
The 10 gallons are side by side and the 20 longs are end to end. This drains into a 40 breeder. The top row head height is approximately 7 ft and the next is only about 3 feet. Every tank has a ball valve on it to control flow. Drains and return are 3/4.
Again this is for clownfish breeding not reef tanks and coral. So large flow is not required.
